Media Alert: Heat Magazine

Jared is featured on Heat Magazine and their Torso of the Week section. If anyone can scan it and donate it to the site, you’ll be credited!

Tina O’Brien to miss this week’s Strictly

This week we won’t be getting to see Jared and Tina take on the dance floor as she has been diagnosed with Chicken Pox. I was really looking forward to seeing them do the Rumba but health comes first! I want to wish Tina and her daughter a very speedy recovery. If you’re on Twitter make sure you send her your good wishes! Here’s the official message from the Strictly site. Edit: According to The Sun, Jared had Chicken Pox as a child and should be ok. I’ve edited this post with the new info.

Unfortunately due to diagnosis of Chicken Pox, Tina O’Brien cannot participate this week. In accordance with our rules and contingency plans, Tina will be given a bye through to next week’s show. If she is unable to dance next week she will have to leave the competition.

Tina says: “I am devastated. I was so looking forward to this week’s show. Jared and I have spent so much time and effort on a really fantastic routine and I just couldn’t wait to perform it on Saturday.

Hopefully I will bounce back quickly and be on top dancing form soon, ready to come back straight into the next routine. I will be watching them all this weekend!”

This Saturday all the other couples will dance as usual for the judges’s scores and the public vote and one couple will be eliminated in the Sunday night Results Show.

[...] Tina’s illness deals a particularly harsh blow to 22-year-old Jared, as seven members of his family were set to fly in from Utah for tomorrow’s performance.

He is not at risk of infection as he had chicken pox as a child, a Strictly spokesman said.

SCD: Details of Sunday Results Show Revealed

Information about Strictly’s Sunday’s result show has been released, it also includes information about the first live show that will take place on October 1st AND October 2nd so read on!

STRICTLY WALTZES BACK ONTO SCREENS WITH SATURDAY AND SUNDAY NIGHT SHOWS

Series eight of Strictly Come Dancing will return with a live Saturday night competition followed by a Sunday night results show in which viewers will see their favourite competitors saved from elimination.

The Sunday night results show will be presented together by Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman.

BBC Controller of Entertainment Commissioning Mark Linsey says “Strictly pioneered the Sunday night results format and this year we’re back with the perfect finish to the weekend. Tess and Claudia were the obvious choices to present and we’re really proud that a fresh Strictly will return with must-see, family event television.”

The 30-minute results show will not feature a dance off, but will feature a pro-dance performance and the all-important elimination.

The first live competition shows will be split over Friday October 1st and Saturday October 2nd and won’t be followed by a results show. Instead, the judges will score the competitors to create a leader board, which will be carried over to the second week. The show will then follow a Saturday night competition followed by Sunday night results format. This will allow audiences two weeks to decide on their favourite before voting.

Claudia Winkleman says “I’m properly excited about working alongside Tess on the Sunday results show. I’ll be fully immersed in all things tango and sequin as I’m still hosting It Takes Two weeknights on BBC Two as well. They’ve just told me the line-up. One word. Excited.”

Series eight of Strictly Come Dancing will launch with a one-hour show on September 11th, and the first live show will transmit on October 1st. The first results show hosted by Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly will transmit on October 10th.

Strictly Come Dancing Stars to be Revealed on Air

Big Strictly news! It seems like Jared won’t get to meet his partner until September 8th when the BBC will shoot a special where they will reveal the stars participating this season and which professional dancer they’ll be partnered with. Here are two articles that go into more detail.

Contestants on this year’s Strictly Come Dancing will be revealed in a launch show filmed in front of an audience at BBC Television Centre. They will also be introduced to their dance partners in the one-hour show, to be aired on 11 September – three weeks before the start of the contest. It is thought stars will be paid on a per-show basis this year, rather than being given a flat fee for the series. [...]

In the newly-announced launch show, dancers and contestants will be filmed arriving on a red carpet and performing a group dance together. The programme will be shot on 8 September for broadcast three days later. First meetings between dancers and celebrities in previous series were filmed in dance studios or workplaces and shown in video inserts during the opening episode. The BBC’s Mark Linsey called the “red carpet event” the ideal way to launch “a series that features more excitement and glamour than ever before”. [...]

SCD: ‘Banned From Meeting Partners for Early Training’

Strictly Come Dancing celebrities have been banned from meeting their partners for early training – and will have to wait for an Oscars-style TV ceremony. The 14 contestants, thought to include The Good Life actress Felicity Kendal and rugby star Gavin Henson, will dance before being given a professional partner at the bash. It will be shown on BBC1 on September 11. A source said: “The dancers have always met the celebrities in studios and started training straight away. Now everyone will meet at the red carpet ceremony and then it’s three weeks until the competition begins. It’s an exciting new way to kick off the show.” Viewers may see fireworks going off and contestants being lifted on high wires as bosses bid to beat X Factor in the audience ratings. BBC entertainment chief Mark Linsey said: “This series has more excitement and glamour than ever before.”
